Team’s Coach: Maciej Durbas
Maciej is a fifth-year law student of law at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. He graduated from the School of Franch Law and due to his excellent results he obtained a scholarship of the French government for a research stay in Orleans. He also took part with very good results in the Summer School of Continental Law organised by the Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Panthéon-Assas universities in Paris. Maciej also organized and taught at a series of law classes for high school students in Kraków.
Maciej participated in the 17th edition of the Vis Moot. He took part in 6 pleadings, including 4 in Elimination Rounds, co-leading the Jagiellonian University’s team into the quarterfinals. He received the Honorable Mention.
Maciej is a member of TBSP UJ, the Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP), Young Arbitration Practitioners in Poland (YAPP) and a student affiliate at the Chartered Institute of Aribtrators (CIArb). He is interested in the civil law, the theory of law, private law in the comparative perspective and international commercial and investment arbitration. He is fluent in English and French. He has got basic knowledge of German.
Team’s Coach: Cezary Rogula
Ph.D. student and co-lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University (areas of expertise: international commercial mediation and arbitration, legal negotiations, civil law, litigation), currently enrolled to LL.M. programme on banking at the Jagiellonian University. Attorney’s trainee at the Krakow District Bar Council, vice-president of the second year trainees’ council. Visiting student at Harvard Law School, Erasmus scholarship holder at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, participant of the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation Workshop, completed School of American Law organized by the Jagiellonian University and the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Alumnus and member of many associations (e.g. ELSA, Jagiellonian
University Ph.D. Students’ Association). Organised and participated in numerous conferences and scientific competitions, 3rd place winner of the 4th edition of the ICC’s International Commercial Mediation Competition, observer during 5th and 6th edition of the Competition. 3rd place winner of the Warsaw Negotiation Round 2010. Fluent in English (holder of the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, 2002), intermediate in French.
Team’s Faculty Supervisor: Prof. dr hab. Jerzy Pisulinski
Prof. dr hab. Jerzy Pisulinski is vice dean at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University. He works at the Chair of Civil Law and is a member of the Polish-German Centre for Banking Law. He is author of many publications on Polish and European private law. Prof. Pisulinski is also a member of Acquis Group and Civil Law Codification Commission.
