The JU Team for the 18th Vis Moot:

Julia Dyras is a 4th -year law student at the Jagiellonian University. Last year she graduated from the American Law Program (organized by her university in cooperation with the Catholic Univeristy of America). Her main areas of interest are civil law, medical law and the civil procedure. She speaks fluent English, has a very good command of Spanish and can communicate in French. Julia has already gained some experience in the field of commercial dispute resolution, having participated in the 5th International Commercial Mediation Competition organized by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. She considers the Willem C. Vis Moot to be a great opportunity to expand her knowledge of international trade law and the arbitration procedure. In her free time she greatly enjoys reading, the cinema (especially Spanish cinema) and swimming.

Jadwiga Glanc is a fifth- year law student at the Jagiellonian University, a former member of the Law Faculty Student Representative Council and also a former director of the board of a pharmaceutical firm which has recently been taken over by an international company. This year she has completed the Master 2 Program in French offered by the University of Orleans and has written an M.A. dissertation on the inadmissible exercise of voting rights by shareholders, under the supervision of Prof. Thibaut Massart. She is currently attending a seminar on commercial law at the Jagiellonian University held by Dr. Marcin Spyra. She is interested in commercial law, intellectual property law and civil law. She speaks English, French and Spanish. In her free time she likes to learn languages, listen to English radio plays, to travel and spend time with her family.

Adam Kempa is a 5th year law student at the Jagiellonian University and a member of the Jagiellonian Club. His main areas of interest are civil law, international arbitration and philosophy of law. Adam graduated from the American Law Program (organized by Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the Catholic University of America). He conducted law classes for students of Nowodworski Lyceum in Krakow. To deepen his knowledge and practical skills Adam served an internship at the Office of Human Rights Defender and decided to take part in the Vis Moot Competition. He speaks fluent English and started to learn French. In his free time Adam plays the guitar and reads books.

Wojciech Kozak studies Law at the Jagiellonian University and was awarded  bachelor degree with distinction  in the field of Finance and Accounting from Cracow University of Economics. He participated in the JU School of Austrian Law. Wojciech gained his professional experience during internships in Germany and Poland. In the academic year 2009/2010 he studied,  within LLP Erasmus programme, law and economics at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz receiving Zertifikat für deutsches Recht. He speaks fluently both English and German and has a basic command of Italian he has also begun his French course.

Jakub Majewski is a fourth year law student at the Law and Administration Faculty of the Jagiellonian University. Member of the Jagiellonian University 17th Vis Arbitration Moot team. His interests include civil law and civil procedure as well as international commercial arbitration. Undergone training in several corporations providing legal services to commercial companies. Fluent in both English and German.

Piotr Nowicki is a 5-th year student of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University. His main areas of interest are corporate, securities, trade and tax law. Piotr speaks fluent English and has begun a course in German. He has also completed the American Law Program. Piotr spends his free time on cycling and swimming.

Hubert Wysoczański pursues his 4th year at the Jagiellonian University. His majors are commercial law, civil law and procedure and public international law. Having become well accustomed to law in books, he is now trying to adopt a more law in action approach. That is why this year he practises at the Jagiellonian University Legal Clinic (Civil Law Section) and participates in the Vis Moot experience. He has always taken an avid interest in different contests he could face up to. In 2009, he was a finalist of the Global Management Challenge – an international business simulation competition. He also succeeded in several contests held at the Faculty. He is fluent in English, and has been learning Chinese for over a year now, anticipating that this language may some day become the lingua franca of international arbitration. In his free time Hubert enjoys playing the electric guitar and the piano (he graduated from a music school). His other interests are international relations and skiing. Privately, he is an ardent supporter of liberalism.

Daniel Zatorski is a 5th year law student at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University with a B.A. in American Studies from the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora of the Jagiellonian University. Daniel was on the Jagiellonian University team for the 17th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. He also participated in the JU-CUA American Law Program, the 2010 International Business and Trade Summer Law Program in Krakow and is in the process of doing an LL.M. degree. His knowledge of international commercial law was substantially broadened during the Augsburg Summer Program in European and International Economic Law. He also took part in the Seminar on the Economic Analysis of Law at Frauenchiemsee as one the speakers. He also completed the IPStudent workshop with an award for best paper on an intellectual property issue. Apart from international commercial law his interests include intellectual property, Law & Economics, as well as American culture.

Maciej Zych is a 3rd – year student of law at the Jagiellonian University. Also, he currently participates in a 2-year course of English and European Union Law organised by the British Law Centre (in cooperation with the Univeristy of Cambridge) and intends to take part in the American Law Program in the near future. His main interests include civil, antitrust and commercial law, alternative dispute resolution and comparative law with particular focus on common law systems. He is an active member of the TBSP law students’ society and conducts classes in civil law for lower-year students under its auspices. He speaks fluent English and can communicate in German.
